Isabelle Updates: March

Isabelle's 4th Month:1 March - 1 April

•  Recognizes both Mommy's AND Daddy's faces!
• Regularly sleeps 6-8 hours a night!
• Lots of  "chatting" (oh's, ah's, coo's and squeals)
• Still loves music! She loves dancing with us to music.
• Practicing her random laughing at the beginning of the month.
• Started to laugh/giggle intentionally toward the end of this month!  
• Loves watching the Cooking/Food Channel. She visibly gets excited (squeals and kicks legs), and watches it intently. She however, does not like E! News (one of Mommy's guilty pleasures).
• Grabs at and puts things in mouth.
•  Rolling over from back to front AND front to back! She prefers sleeping on her stomach and will roll herself over after we set her down to sleep on her back.
• LOVES when either Joe or I sing "The Little Mermaid" movie songs to her. "Part of Your World" is her favorite.

Isabelle Updates: January

Isabelle's 2nd Month: 1 January- 1 February

• Bats at toys on her play mat
• Briefly grips onto fingers or toys
• 4-6 hour stretches of sleep at night!
• Practicing smiling, squealing and laughing. Smiles are intentional, but laughing and squeals are very random.
• Recognizes mommy's face and smiles back. Follows me with her eyes if I'm moving across the room.
• Practicing repeating "oh's" and "ah's"
• Becoming more interested in objects like rattles and toys.
• Started rolling from her back to her side.

Isabelle Updates: February

Isabelle's 3rd Month:1 February- 1 March

• Isabelle is stubborn and feisty! She hates going down for naps during the day, even if she is exhausted. She seems to not want to miss out on anything! 
• At her 2-month appointment, Isabelle weighed 11.2 pounds and was 23 inches long. She is in the 50th percentile for weight (average), and the 70th percentile for her length (above average).
• Sits on elbows while on her tummy with her head up
• Increased head/neck strength
• Her favorite toy is her pink owl
• Lots of smiles and ALMOST laughs
• Sucks on fists
• Lots of drooling! 
• Reaching out to grab things (my hair, toys on play mat)
•  Had her first laugh on 2/21!
• Rolls over from front to back and from her back to her side. 

Enough leg strength to hold herself up!

Baby Updates: December

Isabelle Susanne Liles 

Born Monday, December 1, 2014 at 8:52am

8lbs 7oz, 20 inches

 

Here are some highlights and photos of Isabelle's first month:

• Overall, she's a happy, feisty and determined girl

• Enjoys looking at faces

• Practicing her facial and eye movements

• Follows objects and sounds with her eyes 

• LOVES music. The sure-fire way we've found to get her to stop crying when she's fussy is to put on some music and dance with her/sing.  

• She's starting to smile

• Gurgles, grunts, coos, cries, hiccups, and one little squeal
  

• Starting to gain neck strength

• Starting to gain leg strength. Enjoys pushing her legs out to standing while on our laps when we hold her under her armpits.

• During her tummy time on her play mat, she attempts to crawl, wiggling legs and body and makes frustrated grunting noises when she can't move forward far enough (takes after mom being competitive and sometimes having expectations too high!). Joe and I can't help but giggle at this.

Both kittens have adapted so well to Isabelle. Sophia is the guardian and protector; she comes over to alert me right away when Isabelle cries, and Finnegan just loves to cuddle.
